JAY LUNEAU HAS THE RIGHT PRIORITIES FOR CENTRAL LOUISIANA

Improving Education for Central Louisiana

  • Increased teacher pay with a raise and a $39 million block grant to the state MFP to increase funding for our schools
  • Worked to turn a $2 billion budget deficit into a balanced budget which fully funds higher education, TOPS, and other priorities
  • Replaced the library at Grambling State University
  • Increased funding for early childhood education and higher education


Fighting to Lower Insurance Rates

  • Authored a bill to prohibit insurance companies from discriminating against women, widows, and low-income people when setting insurance rates
  • Required insurers to provide coverage for temporary driving usage of non-owners of vehicles
  • Banned insurance rates based on military deployment status
  • Removed a penalty for being uninsured where the insurer has become insolvent


Repairing and Investing in Central Louisiana’s Infrastructure

  • Passed the largest infrastructure investment in 30 years to improve Louisiana’s roads and bridges, including the $19 million SugarhouseRoad /Eddie Williams Boulevard to LA 43 Highway 1 project in Alexandria
  • Invested $700 million in transportation dollars which will extend to every corner of the state, including $19 million for the Sugarhouse Road/Eddie Williams Boulevard to LA 43 Highway 1 project in Alexandria and $40 million has been allocated to upgrade rural roads and bridges
  • Resurfaced the Blanchard Road in Natchitoches Parish
  • Improved the Southern Grant Sewerage System in Grant Parish
  • Expansed the Wastewater Collection System in Winn Parish
  • Renamed Louisiana 3170 in Rapides Parish to "Cecil R. Blair Memorial Highway"

Improving Public Safety for our Families and Next Generation

  • Passed historic criminal justice reform to reduce incarceration rates, make our communities safer, and save taxpayers millions

Expanding Healthcare Access to All Corners of Louisiana

  • Supported Medicaid Expansion to ensure Louisiana’s working families have access to healthcare, keep our rural hospitals open, and save Louisiana taxpayers millions
  • Funded outpatient clinics in Rapides Parish
  • Created specialized behavioral health rehabilitation services in the Louisiana medical assistance program
  • Formed mental health rehabilitation services contracts with Medicaid-managed care organizations

Fostering an Economy that Works for Everyone

  • Supported equal pay and raising the minimum wage
  • Helped turn a $2 billion deficit into a balanced budget
  • Recreated Louisiana Workforce Commission and re-authorized the Incumbent Worker Training Program
  • Defined independent contractor and employee and added penalties for misclassification of workers
  • Strengthened workers' rights in worker compensation for medical treatment
